The part you’re paying for

A chimney rebuilt from the crown down

Same chimney, same job. The top courses had gone soft enough to pull out by hand — so they came out, and went back in straight.

BeforeThe top of a brick chimney with crumbling, washed-out mortar and eroded brick where the crown has failed.
Mortar washed out and brick eroded — at this point the top is holding itself up out of habit.
AfterThe same chimney rebuilt, with clean new brick courses, a level crown and two clay flue tiles standing proud against a blue sky.
Rebuilt on the original stack: courses level, joints full, flue tiles standing proud of the crown.

What we do

What we take on

Chimney sweeping & cleaning

Firebox, flue and wood stove swept out properly, with the soot kept off your floor and out of the room.

Repairs & full rebuilds

Crumbling brick and failed mortar taken down and rebuilt from the crown back to sound masonry.

Crowns, caps & chase covers

New crowns poured and caps or chase covers fitted, so rain stops running straight down the flue.

Flashing & masonry repairs

Flashing re-set and sealed where the chimney meets the roof, plus the brickwork around it.

How it goes

You call or text

We come and look

Dylan looks at the brick, the crown and the flue, then tells you plainly what he found.

The work gets done

Swept, repaired or rebuilt at the price you were quoted, and the site left clean when we go.

About

Ask for Dylan

Nelson Chimney Services is a family business. Dylan Nelson runs it and works on the jobs, which is why the person who quotes your chimney is usually the person standing on your roof a few days later.

The thing customers keep writing down is the same thing: you get told what the chimney needs, not what it could be talked into. No high-pressure sales, no number that grows between the estimate and the invoice, and the work site left tidy when the crew packs up.

In their words

“Dylan and his guys, Nelson Chimney Services, did a great job tearing down and rebuilding the chimney. I attached before and after pictures. They fought through some weather issues with all the rain we have been getting. Kept the work site neat. Kept in touch with me so I knew when to expect them. Very happy with their service. Thanks guys.”

“Nelson Chimney Service is exceptionally good. I called this morning to have my chimney and Buck stove cleaned and they came in the same day. The price quoted was what I paid. He is very knowledgeable in his field and explained things well. No high pressure sales. They just wanted me to be happy with what they did and I am absolutely pleased and happy.”

Questions

What people ask before they book

Do you sweep chimneys, or only repair them?

Both. Sweeping and cleaning is everyday work here — open fireplaces and wood stoves alike — and so is repair, from a cracked crown up to taking a chimney down and rebuilding it.

Will the price change once you start?

No. The number you are quoted is the number you pay. If something unexpected turns up behind the brick, you get told before any extra work happens, not after.

Can you come out the same day?

Sometimes, and it is always worth asking. Same-day cleanings do happen when the schedule allows. Call in the morning and you will get a straight answer about the day.

The top of my chimney is crumbling. Does the whole thing come down?

Usually not. Most of the time the failed section is the top few courses and the crown, so that comes off and is rebuilt on the sound masonry underneath. We tell you which one it is after we look.

How much mess does a sweep make?

As little as we can manage. The soot is kept contained at the firebox and taken away with us. Customers write about a neat work site more than about anything else, and that is deliberate.

Where do you work?

Jeffersonville and the rest of Clark County, Clarksville, New Albany and Sellersburg, and across the river into Louisville. If you are near the bridges, call and ask.
